Necropsies & Histopathology
For necropsies, live animals are preferred. RRDA offers Basic, General, and Comprehensive Protocols:
Basic Protocol (Necropsy Alone):
- Physical examination
- Euthanasia
- Ectoparasite exam
- Enteric parasite exam
Bacterial screening for respiratory and enteric pathogens (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp. and any requested bacteria) - Gross dissection and histopathology of any lesioned organs (up to 3 tissues)
- No serology
General Protocol:
- Physical examination
- Blood Collection
- Euthanasia
- Ectoparasite exam
- Enteric parasite exam
Bacterial screening for respiratory and enteric pathogens (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp. and any requested bacteria) - Gross dissection, tissue collection, fixation and processing any lesioned organs (up to three organs)
- General Serology Panel: MHV, Sendai, PVM, MVM, MPV, MNV, M. pulmonis, GD-VII, and EDIM).
