Bacteriology
- Standard procedure isolation and identification of isolates
- Blood culture isolation and identification of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and susceptibility testing on all aerobic isolates of clinical importance
- Milk (mastitis) isolation and identification of bacteria [includes antibiotic susceptibility test(s) on appropriate isolates]
- Culture for Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (Johne's)
- Culture for Mycobacterium species other than M. paratuberculosis
- FA on tissue for Leptospira using polyvalent antisera
- Microscopic examination of specimen (KOH, acidfast or Gram's stain)
- Salmonella culture from feces
- Salmonella culture from litter or bedding material
- General culture from samples of non-animal origin
- Darkfield examination of specimen
As a minimum, we require the following information:
- Brief but salient history
- Animal species and age
- Site of specimen
- Disease you suspect
- Treatment to date
