Cell Maintenance
The cell cultures are monitored 3-5 times per week. Cell cultures are maintained at an appropriate density in specific media. The cells (monolayer or suspension) are subcultured based on standard methods. Stationary and spinner cultures are maintained in humidified CO2 incubators. Larger scale suspension and microcarrier cultures are grown in fermentation equipment that has been instrumented and modified specifically for cell culture.
Cell Expansion
Cell cultures are maintained (primary or established line) in log phase to generate a predetermined number of cells. This is useful for generating the number of cells needed for experiments such as protein purification, DNA isolation, creating master cell banks and working cell banks. For recovery of cells and cell products, we have the capability of micro- and ultra-filtration in addition to low and high-pressure chromatography.
