Testing cell lines for Mycoplasma, microbial, and virus contaminants
In vitro cultivation of eukaryotic cells is prone to problems with contamination. Mycoplasma are common and serious contaminants of cell cultures and one of the major problems in biological research using cultured cells. It has been reported that up to 30% of cell cultures are contaminated with Mycoplasma. In order to maintain cell cultures free of Mycoplasma and other adventitious contaminants, there is an absolute requirement for routine, periodic assays to detect possible contamination of cell cultures. This is particularly important with continuous or established cells. MDS cell biology services provides Mycoplasma, bacterial, and virus testing of cell cultures and related products.
