- Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS)
Phosphate-buffered saline solution contains sodium chloride, monobasic potassium phosphate, dibasic sodium phosphate, and potassium chloride.- PBS 1X: ( 5 x 100 ml), (500 ml, 1 L)
- PBS 10X: 1 L
- Modified Dulbecco's PBS (D-PBS) DPB1040: Contains calcium chloride and magnesium chloride (1x)
- DPB1080: Contains calcium chloride and magnesium chloride (10x)
- DPB1280: Contains calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, glucose, sodium pyruvate and phenol red (1x)
- DPB1287: Contains calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, glucose, and sodium pyruvate, but no phenol red (1x)
- Hepes Biological Buffer (zwitterionic buffer)
Hepes buffer is non-toxic to cells and is not absorbed through cell membranes. It is essentially transparent to ultraviolet light. It is especially useful in calcium phosphate transfection of mammalian cell lines. It is more resistant to pH change in the absence of added carbon dioxide than is standard carbonate buffer. It is an excellent replacement for PBS and does not interfere in virus titrations or hemagglutination assays.
