H295R Steroidogenesis Assay
H295R Steroidogenesis Assay serves as an in vitro screening assay, intended to identify xenobiotics that target intracellular components that comprise the steroidogenic pathway. Cultured H295R human adrenocortical carcinoma cells are employed to assess the effects of your chemical on testosterone and 17β-estradiol production. The steroidogenic assay is not intended to identify substances that affect steroidogenesis due to effects on the hypothalamus or pituitary gland. This assay is part of the OECD framework for the Testing and Assessment of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals” under the EPA.
