Pilot Cryopreservation Project
RRDA superovulates and mates a maximum of eight experimental and 3-4 control females. Embryos are collected from these females and cryopreserved. The embryos are then thawed and cultured for 48 hours to determine the number of embryos that develop to the expanded blastocyst stage. A summarized time line is as follows:
- Superovulate the experimental and control donor females and mate. Harvest and freeze the embryos (week-1).
- Recover cryopreserved embryos and culture to determine viability post-cryopreservation (week-2).
- RRDA prepares a summary report of the Cryopreservation Pilot Program results and sends it to client for review (week-3)
- The client and RRDA discuss the specifics of the custom cryopreservation program for banking of the line/strain (week-4)
