In vitro Micronucleus (IVM) Test
The in vitro micronucleus (IVM) test is currently used as a screening assay during the early stages of drug development to screen chemicals likely to produce positive outcomes in the in vitro chromosome aberration assay. The in IVM test is a common screening assay for detection of clastogens and aneugens.
The assay utilizes CHO cells exposures to a minimum of eight concentrations in the presence and in the absence of metabolic activation, and then counting of 2000 binucleated cells per treatment concentration, and employs a trend test for statistical analysis of the data.
